(COVINGTON, LA, September 3, 2026) – The St. Tammany ChamberPAC Voter Guidelines for Tax Propositions in St. Tammany Parish was developed by the St. Tammany ChamberPAC and approved by its Board of Directors to serve as a resource for voters, taxing entities, and community stakeholders. The goal is to promote transparency, public education, and informed decision-making regarding tax-related propositions that may appear on the ballot. Click here to read guidelines.

The PAC intends to share these guidelines with taxing entities throughout St. Tammany Parish and use them as a framework for evaluating and discussing parish wide sales tax, property tax, and parcel fee proposals. Specifically, the guidelines are intended to:

  1. Educate and inform the public by providing a consistent framework for evaluating tax propositions. The document will be available through the Chamber PAC website and other communication platforms.
  2. Promote transparency and understanding regarding the anticipated revenue generated by tax proposals and the intended use of those funds.
  3. Facilitate constructive dialogue with taxing entities so voters can gain a thorough understanding of parish wide tax propositions before casting their votes.
  4. Support informed recommendations from the PAC regarding parish wide tax measures. Findings and information gathered may be shared through Chamber PAC communications, including the Peeling Back the Onion video series and the St. Tammany Chamber PAC website.
  5. Provide a resource for taxing entities throughout St. Tammany Parish as they consider future tax proposals and public engagement efforts.
  6. Serve as a living document that may be updated periodically as new issues, best practices, and community needs emerge.
  7. Encourage accountability and public confidence by promoting access to information, fostering transparency, and helping voters make well-informed decisions.

We look forward to working collaboratively with our public agencies and taxing districts to ensure voters have access to the information they need to fully understand the purpose, impact, and benefits of proposed tax initiatives.
