(COVINGTON, LA, April 25, 2025) — The St. Tammany ChamberPAC, a nonpartisan political action committee affiliated with the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, recently voted to support the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Service District No. 2 (also known as Slidell Memorial Hospital) Millage Proposition on the May 3, 2025, election ballot.

Slidell Memorial Hospital’s millage proposal represents a transformative investment in the future of healthcare for eastern St. Tammany Parish. With a reduced millage rate from 6.75 to 5.99 mills and a 4-year extension of the term from 2041 to 2045, the proposal balances fiscal responsibility with critical infrastructure improvements. If passed, it would generate $51.5 million in funding to allow the hospital to expand its Comprehensive Cancer Care Clinic with advanced imaging and new exam rooms; increase emergency department capacity for more efficient, private care; and outfit the new Women and Infants Center with state-of-the-art technology for mothers and babies. It also includes a new Pediatric and Primary Care Center to meet growing demand, and additional on-campus parking to improve access and convenience for staff and patients alike.

“The support of the ChamberPAC highlights the proposal’s value not only to healthcare but also to the broader community’s future. This endorsement recognizes the  potential to enhance economic vitality and support the health of local families for generations to come,” said ChamberPAC Chairman Scott Delacroix

This bond proposal, made possible through SMH’s unique status as a service district hospital and political subdivision of the State of Louisiana, is a clear win for residents in Wards 6, 7, 8 and 9—delivering more care, stronger infrastructure and real tax savings.

“The decision made by our board followed lengthy discussions with hospital officials, including Slidell Memorial Hospital CEO Sandy Badinger, CAO Holly Sanchez and Chief Legal Officer Gilbert Ganucheau,” said Delacroix.

“The ChamberPAC encourages voters to visit Slidell Memorial Hospital’s website (slidellmemorial.org/our-promise-for-tomorrow) for more information on the millage proposal,” said Delacroix. “And as always, we encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote in this and all elections.”
